Kiev, August 24, Interfax - The "Prayer for Ukraine" attended by President Viktor Yuschenko is taking place at the St. Sofia Cathedral on Friday as part of the celebration of Ukrainian Independence Day.

Yuschenko's wife and children are also attending, as are chief of the presidential administration Viktor Baloha, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Tabachnyk, Foreign Minister Arseny Yatsenyuk, Ukrainian National Security Council Secretary Ivan Plyusch, Kiev Mayor Leonid Chernovetsky, and other government officials.
