International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC) continues its relief and recovery program in Greece with an innovative pilot program designed to help farmers while restoring the country’s damaged environment.

Phase II Recovery for Greece

Andreas of the village of Anilio in Greece lost his grazing land and half of his 700 olive trees to last summer’s wildfires. But a new program by International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC) will provide farmers like Andreas with forage seed to grow new grasslands, providing a long term source of feed for their livestock.

The forage seed also benefits Greece’s damaged environment since the grass will not have to be replanted for another four years, thereby preventing soil erosion. IOCC has invested more than $500,000 in relief and recovery programs for Greece since the wildfires.
